Communication Technology

In my opinion, technology is helping communications barriers in health care. I believe this because it will deliver better care for the patients and nurses. By using technology, healthcare professionals can obtain faster and easier access to patient’s information regarding medical records, history, and lab results. Also, using technology will help healthcare professionals explain procedures or treatments to patients who speak a different language. A great example of this would be personal digital assistants (PDA’s). PDA’s have language translators that help the nurse communicate with the patient and/or patient’s family who speak a different language. In addition, they can transfer documents wirelessly to the hospital, calculate drug dosages, analyze lab results, and schedule appointments. Communication technology such as PDA’s will minimize communication errors greatly.

I totally agree with you. I think that for sure PDA's have changed forever the way we communicate with one another especially in a business setting and as in health care when people need to be in constant communication to deliver the appropriate interventions. Great Post! :)
